A PAIR partnership with a school spans three years. Over the course of that time, PAIR Specialists train up to 20 classroom teachers during monthly after school sessions in ways to integrate arts-based strategies into their daily lessons. In monthly follow up classroom visits, PAIR Specialists model the lessons they have co-planned with the classroom teacher and troubleshoot specific challenges. Modeling lessons in a “show me, help me, watch me” gradual release method ensures that teachers make achievable but sustainable growth.

PAIR Specialists bring expertise of the art form and facilitation and the classroom teacher brings expertise of his/her students and content. Through this pairing, teachers and PAIR Specialists model the kind of collaboration we want students to show in learning.

Just as we want students to learn collaboratively, PAIR classroom teachers and Specialists depend on each others’ expertise to construct a solution for a specific instructional challenge.
