ELAGSE2L2: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.

Integration Area/Subject:

ELA

Materials/Playing Space:

Large (soft) playground ball; Open space for a circle

Description:

Game is played in a circle. The leader stands in the center, holding a throw-able ball, something like a playground ball or beach ball that would not hurt if someone got hit with it.

The leader gives out a category of any kind, and it is the group’s job to respond with items in that category if the leader throws the ball to them. They must respond before the ball gets to them. They throw it back to the leader, and the leader continues.

To review common and proper nouns, give students broad categories like “common nouns” or “proper nouns” for the first rounds, then get more specific with categories like, “jobs,” “places you like to go,” or, “items outside this room.”
