The PAIR Specialist asked the students to make a circle. We then passed the ball in a circle and each student had an opportunity to tell us what number comes next. The PAIR Specialist and teacher then timed how long it took to get all the way around the circle. We played around with starting the ball in different places in the circle.
Then the teacher moved to the center of the circle and would toss the ball to a student. The first student would say any number between 1-20 and pass the ball back to the teacher. The teacher would then say “greater than”, “less than” or “equals” and pass the ball to a new student who would have to give a quick answer to the question.
To really integrate the arts strategy, explain the need for projection in theatre performance and encourage the students to speak loudly without yelling or screaming.
