Description:
The PAIR Specialist and teacher asked students to pick a letter that they had discussed in class. The students then wrote that letter down on their piece of paper, balled it up and threw it to a specific spot in the classroom. Every student then picked up a different ‘snowball’ than they had thrown. The students were asked to write a word that started with their new letter and then had to draw a picture that corresponded with that word. The students then shared with each other what they came up with.
Notes:
To create a well integrated lesson, have students begin to express things they notice about the visual art created by their peers that connect to Kindergarten art, such as colors and shapes used in the art. This can also be a great way to explain the shape of letters, as short works of art that people use to communicate.
