ELA & Visual Art
The students moved from poster to poster with their groups, completing different activities pertaining to the letter “D.”
Before beginning the poster dialogue activity, the teacher reviewed the letter “D” with the class and they talked about different examples together.
The teacher had different stations set up around the room with crayons at each station. There was a poster to practice writing “D” and a poster to practice writing “d.” There was also a poster for the students to draw a picture of something that ended in a “D” and a poster for students to draw a picture of something that started with the letter “D.”
Once the students were divided into groups and at their starting station, the teacher started a timer for one minute and the students completed the task that their poster required. Once all four groups had been to all of the posters, the teacher reviewed the different pictures that were drawn.
You can bump up the arts integration by discussing types of lines used to make letters, as well as colors used when creating drawings connected to the letters being featured in the activity.
