PAIR Specialists are highly trained teaching artists, many who are certified teachers. They are educators at the Springer Opera House, the Columbus Museum, Columbus State University, and local dance studios.
PAIR Founder and Director
Sally Baker, Education Director at the Springer Opera House and Director of the PAIR Program, comes with nearly 20 years of arts education experience. Sally has worked with theatres, schools and educational programs all over the country and has returned to her hometown, Columbus, to work for the Springer. A former classroom teacher of nearly ten years, she brings teaching experience pre-K through the university level and has written arts integrated curricula for programs nationally. Sally has a BSEd in Secondary English Education from the University of Georgia and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Drama and Theatre for Youth and Communities from the University of Texas at Austin. Sally’s area of focus is arts integrated instruction and its effects on student achievement and teacher preparation.
Austin Sargent, PAIR Associate Director, has worked as a teaching artist in several arts programs including the Springer Theatre Academy, Imagination Stage and CLIMB Theatre. He is a graduate of Viterbo University with emphasis in theatre education and children’s theatre. He is the Box Office Manager for the Springer Opera House and also works with local schools in coaching their productions.
Beth Reeves is the Education Coordinator at the Springer Opera House. She holds a Masters of Theatre Education from Columbus State University. Beth has worked with Youth Ensemble Theatre, Dalton Little Theatre and as a teaching artist for Creative Arts Guild. She serves as the lead outreach teacher for a variety of Springer education programs and believes strongly in culturally relevant teaching.
